FULL MOON MEDITATION
MAGHA PUJA DAY 2020
CELEBRATING THE LIGHT WITHIN
FEBRUARY 8, 2020
Magha Puja Day is the day of the first congregation of the Buddha and his first 1,250 enlightened disciples. Known for its festive lantern lighting events, Magha Puja features lit candles as a symbol for the wisdom and inner brightness gained from a still and peaceful mind. As this day is held on the third lunar day of the year, Peace Point Meditation’s February Full Moon meditation falls on the same day as Magha Puja, where the meditators celebrated their inner brightness in this candlelit event.
On February 8, 2020, Peace Point Meditation held its monthly Full Moon Meditation at the Dhammakaya International Meditation Center in Azusa. The event featured special guest, Hollywood actress and activist AnnaLynne McCord, who attended the event and gave a short speech on the importance of sharing self-love and meditation with the attendees. She also talked about her inspiring work with The Love Storm project, a global meditation tour that focuses on raising awareness about human trafficking. The event featured short stretching, loving-kindness meditation, and an outdoor candle lighting vigil with the special display "Self-Love for World Peace".
